If you don’t like fracking — I don’t unless we have to — build nuclear power and make your own synfuels, ammonia, H2, O2, electric energy, process heat, etc. Stop buying this from Evil People, cartels, and such. It’s not hard.

Europeans will eventually wake up hopefully before it’s too late.

A few corrections or things to consider vs. the facts presented here. Methane is a volatile gas that is very reactive compared to CO2. The residence time of Methane in the atmosphere is 9 years. Also, only ~30% of the Methane in the atmosphere comes from fossil fuel use and production, the rest are Earth's natural emission sources (i.e. swamps and farts) or other human sources (cement and landfills). Traditional, older LNG tankers do boil off a portion of their load to release into the atmosphere. Newer LNG tankers have been designed to utilize the boiled off gas for fuel to offset diesel use of the ship.

also, i read that Methane is only 25 times more potent than CO2 in the theoretical warming calcs according to the EPA, not 80 times as listed. The 80 times was incorrect because methane will disappear from the atmosphere within 9 years. Folks should also remember, water vapor causes between 60 and 97% of the greenhouse effect on the planet depending on the source you ask. Scientists have chosen to pay too little attention to water vapor and solar cycles in their greenhouse models and have thus repeatedly failed to accurately predict the warming affect every year as they always predict more warming than what actual occurs as a group.

You’re missing my whole point. The wasted resources -- energy, steel, labor, fuel, GHG emissions, fugitive emissions, cost, -- in the LNG process as a whole, compared to making your own, is orders of magnitude higher. Frack your own. Build nuclear power and make your own. Virtuous peeps too blind to see the most obvious things. So they buy all the LNG while the 50 poorest nations starve. Let them eat cake.

when you liquify methane, the temperature drops below -161.5 deg C to keep it i liquid form for shipping. A portion of the methane will "boil" as the temp reaches -161.5 deg C and will have to be vented or burned for fuel in a lng tanker. the newer design of lng tankers will use the gas as fuel is my understanding.
