I suppose the 2008 recession fear was an understandable cause to go all in on solar to create jobs but at some point looking at a world map you realize that being so far north it’s ludicrous to drive an industrial power by the sun, especially after the manufacturing jobs went to China.

There is no relationship between solar in Germany and the 2008 financial crisis. This policy is rooted in Russia's quite justified fear of (another) invasion from Europe. Solar in Europe is egregious nonsense [1]. These people are, de facto and probably de jure agents acting through the government to cripple Europe. As gray intelligence ops go it is a spectacular success, perhaps the all time prize winner. It takes advantage of sociopathic venality within the fossil fuel interests to succeed.

Unfortunately, US activities in Ukraine have only justified greater efforts by Russia to fight back against the regime change ops that long predate this Ukraine war. Because success begets success, I am quite sure Russia is all in on this strategy.

From the US side, our blinkered insistence on our allies respecting sanctions is continuing to harm the entire western world. That is to Russia's advantage. We are bleeding Russia's hollow military. But we are bleeding our economy as badly if not worse. The ruble is up. Russians not at war are doing very well.

This administration has sanctioned the most resource rich nation on the planet. The experts told them a week later it was a mistake. But, admitting mistakes is losing face, and the fools who came up with sanctioning Russia into submission don't want to lose their fat jobs. Inside the beltway perception is everything. So, they do Russia's work for them and enforce sanctions that only slice away at our foundations.

And then, this administration decided to open a 2 front economic war, on China. Some of this is sensible. But the reasoning is not. Two front wars are dangerous.
